Green Wine Trio
2019 Bobal 'La Castilla", Bodegas Ponce, Manchuela, Spain (red)
Juan Antonio Ponce is following Biodynamic prinicipals and is certified Organic.
His old Bobal vines are on average 50+ yrs producing full flavored wines of superb quality than quantity at this price level. Its a fabulous meaty style, with plums and cherry on the palate and a lovely spicy smoky mineral streak on the finish.
2020 Catarratto, Ciello Bianco, Cantina Rallo, Sicily, Italy (white)
Another wine punching well above its weight, certified organic. Catarratto is a white indigenous grape variety to Sicily and can show quite bland at entry levels,
Not this one!!
Lovely flavours present of baking apples, peach, candied lemon zest and almonds, a beautiful wine with lively acidity. Unfined & Unfiltered, just pure & bright flavored!
2019 Cabernet-Merlot, Château Le Payral, Bergerac, France
Le Payral is certifed organic since 2005 a husband & wife operation with ripe fullflavored wines made of the local Bordeaux grapes. The deep purple colour suggests richness, but without a high alcohol that one may dread, the nose is perfumed of cassis and bramble with hints of mint and fallen leaves.
Thanks to these winemakers for producing full flavoured "Green Wines" taming nature by understanding nature & living with nature. Wines without the alcohol slap in the face!!
